Artist Rachael Thomas has been living in Ireland for the past 20 years. She is originally from England where she trained and worked as a scientific illustrator, combining her two passions, her fascination of biology and love of art. Her chosen medium at that time was watercolour.
Her style and way of painting has changed and evolved over the years. This progression has been totally organic and reflects her own journey through life. Rachael’s art is now on a grand scale and her preferred medium is oil. Her use of colour is unselfconscious and without restraint, resulting in vibrant and exuberant images. The mystical flow of nature continues to inspire her, producing paintings that explode with life, light and colour.
Another aspect of Rachael’s work is teaching others to paint. Over the past 10 years, she has established art classes in Louth and Monaghan, inspiring and encouraging many to explore their own creativity. She also provides art therapy to a local hospital.
Rachael organises and coordinates a number of art exhibitions for all of her students throughout each year.
“Art is for everyone and the joy of discovery abundant in the creative moment”
– Rachael Thomas –
Rachael’s work is touching and inspiring, it says “if you just look a little deeper behind visible things, you are an artist this moment”
